Service: North Northants Early Parenting and Child-Parent Relationship Pilot

Salary & benefits:
£20,579 pro rata per annum, raising to £23,268 pro rata per annum (£8,342 per
annum for part-time 15 hours per week, raising to £9,432)
Additionally, £480 home-based allowance pro rata per annum

Location: Home-based, with travel required in the North Northants region

Hours: This role is available part-time (15 hours per week).

Type of contract: Temporary, initially until 30 June 2024

Are you experienced in working with pregnant mums and new parents with mild to moderate

mental health issues or do you have experience of working in an Early Years setting? Do you

have a recognised qualification in health and social care, mental health or Early Years? If so,

we want to hear from you.

Role’s impact

You will deliver a range of early parenting support groups and peer support/drop-in groups, and provide one to one support, ensuring that your practice is of the highest standard and outcomes driven. You will support the Project Manager and Project Co-ordinator to deliver community outreach activities.

The North Northants Early Parenting and Child-Parent Relationship Pilot will take a population- based approach offering universal parenting support and targeted interventions to support families in need e.g. those with mild-moderate mental health issues and parent-infant relationship difficulties. The pilot will provide: early parenting and child-parent relationship support for mothers, fathers and co-parents with a child(ren) aged under two; support through evidence-based parenting programmes and antenatal groups; targeted parent-infant interventions and peer support; and safe spaces for all families to come together in the community to access universal support for birth and beyond, supporting parents to feel more confident in their transition to new parenthood and their ability to care for their child(ren).

Main requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):

  • Demonstrable experience of working with pregnant and new parents with mild to moderate diagnosed mental health issues or who are at risk of developing mental health issues; and/or of working in an Early Years setting.
  • Experience of delivering evidence based group work and one to one support.
  • Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding protocols and procedures.
